The Hauser Hotel's current oil heating system is supplemented with renewable energy sources. The roof is already equipped with photovolatics, so solar thermal was out of the question. An air-water heat pump does not make much sense at 1800 m.a.s.l.. So the idea of ground probes was in the foreground. The municipality of St. Moritz and the GKB offered to drill on their land, or to drill close to the property. With the own terrace as surface this resulted in the possibility to set 8 earth probes à 280m. The simulation showed that with the 195'000 kWh extracted from the ground, in combination with an efficient heat pump, a heat output of 260'000 kWh is possible. This corresponds to a saving of 26'000 lt. of heating oil. Our heating oil demand would thus be reduced to 16'000 lt. per year. In the summer months, it is also planned to regenerate the geothermal probes by using too much waste heat from ventilation and cooling.
This is a big step towards a cleaner energy future and the added value remains in Switzerland and Europe.
Over the next few weeks the patio will be rebuilt, new wall, new decking - new plumbing & connections. In the background, new furniture is being carpentered, cushions & plants selected. We are already looking forward to the new terrace at the end of June.
The Hotel, Restaurant & Confiserie opens again on Friday 12 May. We can already offer you a small terrace on the GKB.
Look forward to a fine asparagus menu with asparagus from Graubünden and news from our bakery.
See you soon at Hauser
